Marketing to unsigned UK bands

Updated: The target of this project is to get 200 rock/indie/electro bands from the UK signed up for a free account on our new website by the middle of March. At least 50 of those bands will receive a free upgrade to our merchant account, our A&R guy will be listening to each band and chosing who to upgrade. I can supply you with sample copy for approaching the bands - we have a well respected artist name backing us, which should help convince the band to sign up, and we are offering very favourable terms on MP3 sales (they keep 100% profit), so really, it should sell itself. I would suggest MySpace, Facebook or Garageband as a way of finding bands to approach, or this project may be suitable for someone who has an existing music/unsigned related mailing list. However, we are looking to do all marketing ethically and in a business-like manner - no blind links, no unauthorised spamming, and no 'OMG look at this'. I will pay $1 per sign up - a 'sign up' isn't just a band opening an account, they must upload at least one track, a band picture and some information. The first $100 to be payed after the first 50 bands sign up, second $100 upon completion of the project. If you can undercut this figure, you will be given priority consideration as it's something I'm funding out of my own pocket :) I will hopefully be in a position for you to start your campaign this weekend (the 1st) - if for any reason I need to delay this, you will still have 14 days to complete the project (deadline will be altered). Please write with a brief outline of similar projects you have completed, or resources you have available to make this happen in the timescale I've outlined above. All the best!
