Small modification to php-based opensource wordpress plugin

I've attached a plugin ([login to view URL]) and the function I've cobbled together ([login to view URL]) to this project (this function may not be exactly right but I think it's close). What I want is for the $aps_cats field in the plugin to come from something like the function I've constructed on the [login to view URL] file and NOT from the options field on the plugin. This project is simply to take the plugin file and make it pull the $aps_cats field from php instead of from the options field in the plugin. I think this is 95% done, I just need someone who understands php to make take it home. Are you that person?
