OJSMail Functional Design Document Multi-Select Dropdown Box Custom Control August 27, 2002 *Overview The Multi-Select Dropdown Box Custom Control is a .NET Custom Control that will be used in ASP.NET Web Forms. It must extend the functionality of the existing ASP .NET DropDownList control to allow the user to select multiple items. The control must be developed using [login to view URL] with VB.NET or C# and CodeBehind classes. *Functionality The Multi-Select DropDownList control will function in the manners described in this section. *SingleSelect In the Single mode, the Multi-Select DropDownList Custom Control should function as the current DropDownList Custom Control does now in .NET. *MultipleSelect In the MultipleSelect mode, the Multi-Select DropDownList Custom Control should allow the user to select multiple items by holding down the Ctrl key. *Selected Display Once the user selects the items the Multi-Select DropDownList Custom Control should display the MultiSelectCharacter, a new Property, and the list of items that will fit in the display area. **New Properties The Multi-Select DropDownList Custom Control will have the following properties in addition to the existing DropDownList properties: **SelectionMode The SelectionMode gets and sets the type of selection. Options: SingleMode ??" Only select one item from the list MultipleMode ??" Select 1 to ‘n’ number of items from the list **MultiSelectCharacter The MultiSelectCharacter gets and sets the character that is added to the front of the Multi-Select DropDownList Custom Control display area. This character is a visual clue that the control holds multiple items. Options: ~ # ^ * **Programming Considerations The Multi-Select DropDownList Custom Control is a .NET control that will be used in ASP .NET Web Forms. The control should be developed in either C# or VB .NET. The control must be added to the project by copying the .dll in to the bin folder. The control must be available in Design mode. You can require the developer to add it to the General Tab of the Toolbox by selecting a design time dll. **Deliverables The following deliverables are required for this project: •Complete source code •Copyright to all source code •Users manual •Developers manual as a Compiled HTML help file (.chm) •Complete Working Sample (You do not have to supply code for the sample) ## Deliverables •Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. •Complete copyrights to all work purchased. •Users manual •Developers manual as a Compiled HTML help file (.chm) •Complete Working Sample (You do not have to supply code for the sample) ## Platform .NET Must work on IE version 5 and up and NetScape 6 and up The control must be developed using [login to view URL] with VB.NET or C# and CodeBehind classes.
