Hotel Reservation System

The proposed project is the design and implementation of a system (with a Visual Basic Front-End tied to an Oracle Database to retain information) that will automate, a hotel reservation system (examples of such systems are [login to view URL] and www.hostels.com. Note you do not have to produce a dynamic web site. This system should be able to: 1) Keep track of hotel and reservation information 2) Hold information on the number of rooms for each hotel, along with their capacity, availability and price. This information should be easily changed if necessary. 3) Allow the end-user (customer) to view a list of available hotels at a selected location for a given date. The user should be allowed to select a hotel and obtain information about that hotel. 4) The user should be allowed to reserve a room at a hotel. Payment should be possible (payment details should be retained in the database) 5) Allow the administrator query reservation details for a selected hotel for a given date range 6) Allow the administrator to add/remove/edit hotel details and available locations 7) Allow the administrator to edit room availability (for example after giving a refund to somebody who booked a room in error) ## Deliverables Deliverables 1) Written chapters outlining the analysis of the problem, the design of the system and a test report with sample data. These chapters should include the design of the database 2) A written user manual or help option for users as part of the application; 3) A disk containing an executable file and a sample database; 4) A printout of all code for the project. This printout should be included as an appendix in the bound reports. 5) A written outline of the analysis of the individual's sub-problem, the design of their component and a test report with sample data. 6) A written section describing their implementation process. 7) An impartial analysis of how their component performs and how it could be improved. The above points 5 -7 refer to an individuals task within a group. However as this is a sole project, they may not apply. ## Platform Windows 98/2000
