Courier Order Tracking System

We need a complete solution to a nationwide courier order tracking system. The system has to be able to track the packages from contract till delivery, with periodic scans [bar code reader] at different checkpoints on the route. The users can be located at any of the checkpoint as well as the final destination [around 500 total such points]. It has to support around 100,000 total state changes daily for the packages, so the database selection is an important consideration, we can go for MSQL Server but any other database will do as long as it guarantees reliable performance for the above number of cases. The second part of the project will be integrated to the courier's website, and will allow the customers to track their packages, with optional email notices at the package arrives at the next checkpoint, very similar to the package tracking system at the UPS site. The database could be replicated for the website portion [for security reasons] but any other secure solution is acceptable. Along with the price quote, we will need a proposal of the system that you are suggesting and why you are suggesting it, as reliability and consistency of the data is of prime concern. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased. ## Platform The languages/tools/database/OS etc. have no constraints as long as the system works as expected.
