Home Assistant-Fork FoxEss Integration and add battery (charge from grid) feature based on tomorrow's solar prediction

I am looking for a skilled home assistant developer to improve upon the excellent Foxess Home Assistant Integration ([login to view URL]) to add the following feature :- Currently, the integration is very much read-only, showing stats from the solar panels/inverter/batteries. But, the inverter has the ability to set how much the batteries should be charged from the grid. The API is available here :- [login to view URL] Premise -=-=-=-=- In many countries, energy suppliers offer cheap tariffs overnight (between certain hours). The integration will need to take (as an input) the hours for which cheap electricity is available. Feature Request -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= The (Home Assistant) integration's code should take the user's install location and detect how many hours of solar power are expected for the following day (and at what time). It should understand the battery capacity available to charge from the sun and work out the shortfall, aiming to fill this shortfall from the cheap grid electricity (likely overnight) Some examples -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- In Winter months, cheap electricity could be used to charge the battery overnight (to 100%) so that the home is powered from the battery during the day and during poor solar weather. Conversely, in Summer months, when there are days of excellent solar weather, the battery would likely not benefit from any "charge from grid" needing all capacity to take in all the free solar energy. And there are, of course, many middle-case scenarios, where for example, there may be good solar predicted for the afternoon, and the battery would benefit from some charge to get you through until mid-day where it should be as low as possible for the afternoon of sun. Quite a nice technical challenge for someone to work out the best formula. I would like the end result to be an open-source fork of macxq's work so it is available to all and can be updated by others in the future. As for how to predict the solar weather for the location, I am open to suggestions. Home Assistant seems to already have this functionality already, likely due to some existing weather API integration. Ideal skills and experience for this job would include: - Proficiency in homeassistant integrations - Familiarity with FoxESS battery systems and how they connect to the grid - Expertise in working with APIs, ideally FoxESS, although, of course, not essential. This is a great opportunity for someone with a passion for home automation and energy efficiency to work on an exciting project with real-world implications.
