Hello! I was solution architect for the South African Home Affairs National Identification System (HANIS), a national-scale system that enabled enhanced throughput and security for the national Identity Document process. This project gave me experience in large systems at scale, using transaction processing and other middleware. I was uniquely positioned to assist the government in its rollout. It was successfully delivered in 2001. I repeated this delivery for NEC for the Namibian Civil-Criminal AFIS, delivered in 2005. I was a SOA designer in the banking sector, where I delivered designs for projects across multiple integration platforms, technologies, resolving service security, infrastructure and other issues. My skills have positioned me to take advantage of the new Cloud technologies. I have successfully run a Data Science business using both the Amazon cloud and Google's Big Query services. I am experienced using the AWS JAVA API in the cloud. Taken together, my engineering skills, my enterprise architecture and my cloud and big data expertise allow me to set up and work with, reliable, robust, secure and effective cloud architectures for very large projects such as these. In addition to the technological aspects, I would consider the following factors in my recommendations: sustainable operations, in-house technology expertise, risk-reduction, fail-safety for continued operations and other organizational issues crucial for project success.
