DMAFB is a social platform for connecting people ready to help, with people in need of help – no matter the size of the request. Think: "Couchsurfing for Favors". We believe anyone, anywhere – not just the privileged few – should have the chance to be helped, better their lives, and experience happiness. The web application is currently built with Ruby version 1.8, 1.9.3. It's running MySQL version 5.4. and the system is on release version 7 of Debian. Development work is needed to meet launch expectations. A requirement for the new person/team would be: - Comfort with Ruby 1.9.3 and Rails 4.0 - Proficiency with Database tuning / optimisation (MySQL version 5.4) - Comfort with latest versions of Ruby 2.2 and Rails 4.1+ (This is for future planning work. The platform will be at some stage re-written in a more recent, stable version of Rails) - Design and frontend coding activites We can upgrade the current server to have the following software versions available: Ruby 2.1 Rails 4.1.8 MySQL 5.5 The enhancements needed to the existing build include: - Adding functionality - Bug-fixing - Optimising the database and database queries for speed and performance There is a comprehensive specification document for reference to each section of the site's functionality, wireframes for addition functionality to be added and listing of pending issues and bugs. Options for full-time employment and equity and available for the right team.
