Documentation of Commission Processing System Rules

Task: Documenting the current set of business rules which define the commission structure for making payments to our branch network. This includes all commission rules for home loans, investment products, life insurance general insurance and financial advice. Description: the client has a complex set of decision rules which are defined as "condition-action inference rules". These rules are embedded in some Basic code which has ‘incrementally evolved’ over 18 months of ad hoc development. The rules need to be clearly documented so that implementation of a “professional grade business application” can take place. There are seven major rule groups with between 2 and 100 individual business rules in each rule group. There are 5 input files and two types of output files which the business rules make use of or generate. Skills required: This is task for a person who can play the “Business Analyst” role with the skills to create clear documentation of business requirements which can be used as the basis for software development. Proven skills in the 'business analyst" area are required. The consultant must have a good reasoning and logic skills, be a competent “specification writer” in English and have an ability to read Basic code. Specific financial services experience is not required. Deliverable: The only deliverable is a “Commission System Business Rule Specification” document. Estimated size of this document is 20 – 30 pages, including appendices Reporting to: The consultant will work very closely with the COO of the client. The client is based in Sydney, Australia.
