Hi, I would need a data processing job to be done in the next weeks. Here would be the task. I have data on 6500 pilots on aerial victories of the Luftwaffe during WWII, i.e. I have their name, wing, squadron etc. and the number of victories by month. I would need now the information on how long the pilots were in operation during WWII and whether they received special awards. I would suggest the following way to go: the databases would be the following: [login to view URL] From this website I would need the name of the pilots (last and first name), awards by date and in the notes there is information on the status of the pilot (KIA, survived …). I only need the information for the pilots I have listed in my dataset (i.e. the 6500 pilots). One needs then to match the pilot by first and last name to my database by an identifier I have already created, so the identifier need to be looked up in my dataset). I would send you my datafile, once we agreed on the job. I attach three example pilots how the job should look like in an excel file (from: [login to view URL]). In the example there is more info on the specific data coding. Would it be possible to do this job? If yes, are you able to send me an estimate about the expected costs. Many thanks. Hi, I think can be easily done in a few days. First I'd have to do some manual work by copying all of the sheets from the website (Axis sheet ,A sheet, B sheet etc.) to an excel file. From the excel file I'd create a csv file, and then put the data into a MySQL database from which it would be very easy to extract/create any data necessary using SQL. Philip, This is a very interesting project! If you have your database in either Excel or text files it should take long to match you identifiers across the pilots. I would say 2 days would be enough. My credentials: I have done hundreds of projects like this, matching data across multitude of files and extracting and reformatting Excel files. Look forward to working on your project!
