Hello, I have two cast Iron face masks (plaques) of Tam O’Shanter, and Souter Johnnie. Both are characters from the famous Robert Burns poem ‘Tam O’Shanter ‘. One of the masks (Souter Johnnie) is a genuine antique made in the Carronade Works (Foundry) in Falkirk. The other (Tam O’Shanter) looks to be a reasonably modern recast of an original. I would like both of them stripped of the paint that’s on them at present, and repainted in a lifelike manor. These plaques are intended to be weather resistant and must be painted with that in mind ?! Both plaques weigh in the region of 6 Kilograms each. It’s not a big job but it will require some expertise ?!
