Since March I have completed my master's thesis in Mechatronics engineering with the title "Development of an embedded system for remote monitoring and parameterization of frequency converters" at the University of Paderborn and the Fraunhofer Institute. I should also pass an exam so that I can get my master's degree can complete. In this master's thesis I designed an embedded system that updates the current communication system for the converters from the serial interface to the Internet of Things (IoT). I analyzed the serial interface of the inverter, such as CAN bus and Modbus. After that I developed a circuit board that will connect to the converter. It communicates with the inverter via serial communication and with the users via Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT). The software is also being developed that converts user commands from MQTT to Modbus and vice versa.
