I need a utility to control four different types of video cas ette players over RS232 (COM). Dont worry, you dont need to learn the protocol how the players talk, basically you just need to write a Windows event-driven code to send and receive data from a COM port. I have even attempted to make "pseudo" (fake) code that you may find useful (the pseudo code is event driven already). In my pseudo code I made a variable of what string to send to the player, how long to wait, what response to expect, which byte and bit of the response to check, and what step to continue with. I have programmed before in Visual Basic 6 but I dont know Visual Basic .NET so therefore I need someone to port it. Then hopefully I could make any adjustments myself. I have made a job specification for this project which is attached as a PDF file. Please read it next. Please only respond if you are serious and have a history on here with good ratings. Ok. I got it. You need a rock solid command line app to control your VCR. I can build this VCCONTROL app. No low level issues, just rs232 commands to send the right handshake to control those equip. I have PHD in the field of computer science. i already have developed two similar works in vb.net. my software had two way communication over rs232 port with an arduino in both works. i have seen your codes in the attached PDF file. i think it can be enhanced by taking advantage of classes. overall, a combination of my existing work and your code should be fine for this project. Hi. I have previous work made. It with some little changes will work for you. I have build Windows DLL with Visual Studio 2015 to handle RS232 connection, and if you need event driven handle of data some adaptation must do over it. It is built in C/C++ and easily to call functions from external. Only I need know the communication details you want in order to do accurate time estimation.

Pretty straight forward, no problem. I have written many RS232 apps over the years and an event driven, command line VB.NET app is very close to other apps I have done in the past. Relevant Skills and Experience I have used RS232 for interfacing equipment for over 30 years. VB.NET has great support for whatever baud, parity or stop bits you need. It can be made in a very clean architecture.
