Hello fellow coders,
I need help creating an import code for our eCommerce Orders and Invoices into Quickbooks, most likely an .IIF File .
We are running a modified version of AspDotNetStorefront (.NET, C#) with SQL Server 2005 DB as back-end ( [login to view URL] ). I would need someone familiar with C# and .IIF file format to build some C# code that would work as part of our admin interface to create IIF Quickbooks import files (that's current design, if you can suggest better then go ahead). We can import data directly from the DB (ideally you can do it, I can provide sample tables, if you aren't good in this I can write you a stored procedure to get all required data).
Process.
An asp.NET page will show dates (start and end) for the Orders and Invoices to be imported. On click of a button, Orders or Invoices for these dates are pulled from DB into an .IIF file of a specific format and name (name should have date appended, such as [login to view URL] and [login to view URL]). After that, a log record is created in a separate DB table to log today's date, start-end dates, start-end Order or Invoice numbers.
Output.
1. .NET page that can be used to select dates and click button to generate .IIF file for specific dates for Orders or Invoices.
2. If you can do it, database procedure to extract Invoices or Orders (please specify in quote).
3. If you can, SQL code to create log table, and code to log both order and invoice imports into it.
Quickbooks IIF file formats:
We would be generating credit card orders Imported as Sales Receipts (also called Cash Sales), while Invoice (and other non-credit card) orders import as Invoices.
Hello, we have a lot of experience in ASP.NET C# websites development and also have a lot of experience with AspDotNetStorefront ecommerce platform! We did something similar already a few years ago - AspDotNetStorefront order to QuickBooks and can do it for you too! My quote is higher than $250, because AspDotNetStorefront database structure is quite complicated and it requires time to build the functionality. Thank you and looking forward for your reply. We are very interested in this project. I have read your above description and i think its well within our range to execute this is in a good time frame, We would build it from scratch on C# .NET , so would you be kind enough to message me so we can have a discussion and would need data format to proceed further.
Hi
hanks for writing the requirement very precisely. I am Readily available to work on your project and assist you in it .
Well, following is what I inferred for your Import Tool :
You want an scripts which is Developed IIF Quickbooks on C# where the admin staff import file and date directly form DB .
FEATURES
Through the Asp.Net page will show all start and end date of invoices and orders which need to be imported , On one click oder or invoice data will pulled form DB into an IIF formate , After this process records save in structure data base
Will be nice to get more details if you can answer few queries:
- How many specific user types will be present in the site?
Please come to the PMB we will discuss and start work on you rproject
Thanks
Aditya
I think the best way to approach this is not using C# and .IIF because an easier, more reliable method is available. Why not C#, because it is complicated and tedious to build solutions. Why not .IIF, because it has been known to corrupt QuickBooks file if not prepared correctly. My approach is to use MS Access and QODBC. An Access solution will serve as middleware to connect to your SQL database and QuickBooks. Access/VBA user interfaces can be built readily with whatever parameters you require to pull data from SQL, then sliced and diced to upload into QB using the ODBC connection created by the $199 QODBC product. I am not cheap, but you also won't find anybody that knows it as well as I do. My Elance profile is more complete and if you like you can view some screen shots of my work.
