Hi - I don't have a project brief 100% complete yet so I'll just summarize it for now.
We are an ecommerce shipping operation here in Orange County CA. We are looking for a local programming partner to help us with doing some back end programming to improve the speed of certain processes, in this case, network integration for Zebra ZP500 network label printer.
At the present moment, we have a level of automation that allows us to print hundreds of shipping labels a day. However, because our program is currently setup to automatically invoke the windows "print" command, we are noticing that it takes several seconds longer than to send the packet over the network, directly to the printer.
The ZP500 printer is using a simple programming language called ZPL-II which essentially is a small ASCII based, unencrypted text file that gets sent to the printer. The printer then prints the label.
In our operation we are at a scale where 3-5 seconds saved on each print job will result in hundreds of dollars of productivity increase, so it is feasible for us to upgrade the print function.
The first job involves coming on site to analyze our code (written in PHP/MYSQL) and then to create a duplicate "label printing" module that sends the printing packets to the printer directly over the network. This is over the TCPIP network. My system is running Windows 2008 R2.
We do have several follow up jobs lined up after this, all specifically to increase efficiency in the warehouse/packaging side. So ideally we are looking for a contractor who is located not far from our location and work with us long term, once we determine your qualification. Thank you.
