WINCE 6.0 BASED APP DEVELOPMENT Using VB .NET / VC.NET on compact framework -- 2

Project Requirements: Functional modules as follows: BROAD LEVEL DEVELOPMENT AREAS 1. RS 232 Communication: Parameters :(Comport : Com1 or Com2 , Action : Read or Write, SendString data, GetString Data) Open specified Com port If action is Read, read data from the opened port and return to Getstring data If action is write, send the Sendstring data to the comport and wait for response, send back the response thru GetString data) DATABASE OPERATIONS: Parameters(Remote Database Connection, Remote Table Name, Field List, Value List, DeLim as character, Operation (Insert / Update / Delete, return Status as string ) This module will establish remote connection as specified in the parameter, open the remote table and based on the operation (INSERT / UPDATE / DELETE / QUERY) will move the values from value list to field list. The Field List will be a string of values separated by delimiter specified in DeLim The Value List will be a string of Values seperated by delimiter specified in DeLim This module will determine the field type from the table involved, type cast the values and insert / update the table. Delete will happen based on query of values on specified fields matching criteria. Error Message Return: Message will be returned thru Status parameter In case the value type does not field type (character in numeric etc) , return appropriate message “Field XYZ should be numeric” In case update / Insert fails return appropriate message In case Query matching criteria fails return message Same for delete. Write to TextFile / ReadFromTextFile Module: Parameters : TextFileName, Operation Read / Write, Write Type Append / Overwrite, returnReadValue, WriteTextValue A simple module which will read or write based on operation specified file and return value as string thru returnReadValue Write: Write as append or overwrite value from WriteTextValue TCP / IP Communication Module: TO BE DEFINED Single Form for various stations (Station1, Station2, Station3, etc) There are 8 stations with data entry screens needed. Instead of having 8 forms / screens I want a screen with controls whose labels can be redefined dynamically. A configuration file will be available as a text file on disk. This text file will contain the station number to show on startup. Each screen will be assigned an unique number. So based on the number value show that labels for that station on starting up. The Idea is to use a set of fields. Use show and Hide where ever necessary. (TRY the control array concept here under if successful) 1. Form load will determine the intial station screen. Delete the the CurrentControl Value text file associated with each station – (NOTE ONLY FOR VARIABLE VALUES NOT LABELs) 2. 1 Combo box with dynamic list addition and position over the text box against the label where combo concept is needed. First if that text box gets focus show the combo box and then after selection move focus back to text box along with the selected value. If this is having problem implemention, then a small graphic or button which when pressed will show combo box. 3. Check if Tag is available for the control (textbox and label ) in the compact frame work. If so use this to store the values of current screen before navigating to next screen. Else use a text file to store values of current values before moving to another screen settings. (Actually we are not moving to another screen, we are just changing labels and / if available values in text boxes) 4. Develop a module for text file create, write and read routine. 5. Develop a module for control label and value association for each screen. Association will happen from values in text [login to view URL] of Scratch pad. 5.
