536790 Android - Iphone City Guide Application

General idea of the app We would like to create a mobile city guide application. Users of this app will be able to search sightseeing, monuments, historical places and other POInts of interest (POI) by using two type of interface: either a categorized list (POI ordered by type) or by viewing a map (POI as pins on map). Users can also see more details of a POI when they select it, like photos, a describing text, and also be able to rate, write comments, send this to a friend or post it to social media (Facebook, Twitter). Also there will be a phones and address directory of local business organized alphabetically or by categories. What a user could do by using this app - See a categorized list of POI - See a georeferenced map with pins, where every pin is a POI - Zoom in zoom out the map in order to see more details and more POI - Favorite a POI, write comments, send it as an email to a friend, post it to social media Some technical requirements (and maybe some suggestions from you) - We need to have an initial and basic group of POI data; lets call it a starting group. These will be available offline, and installed by default. BUT we will also like, as administrators of the app, to be able to change the text content and photos of each POI, be able to add more POI, and preferably be able to change the hierarchy and the categorization of POI types. This requires a method for the app users to update (or even better to auto-update anytime they go online) - We would like to provide an offline map instead using the Google maps api. This map will be created by our company, using a GIS application, so please let us now what would be a preferable file type; to implement our map to the application. The map data may be either vector or raster, depending on your needs. Please let us know if there is another way to improve this part of the app. - We need to be able to add POI, categories, photos to the app, by using a simple and centralized method. Solutions we have in mind are: a shapefile, a single csv file, an offline version of sql database, txt file and folders (not really !) or any other way.
