We HAVE a way to visualize data that is received through an API as a candlestick chart, and apply appropriate filtering to it. Also, this tool can be used to download data to CSV/Excel. The existing code base / solution will be provided.
The API for the program we work with is .NET 4.0 and responds with a structured binary tagged data stream to a query. The data is essentially a long list of time and price data - the output variables are date, time, price, volume, buyer, seller. The input variables for the query are symbol, date or date-range, time-range. API documentation will be provided to bidders on request.
The received data can be used to construe a 1, 5, 15, or 30-minute candlestick chart depending on the user´s selection. Also, the user needs to be able to apply filtering to the visualization based on buyer and seller IDs to his or her liking.
We broadly NEED two additions to this existing C# project: 1) download multiple data items at the same time / sequentially to one file, 2) a different type of chart (tick i.o. candlestick), in addition to the candlestick chart, to display the data in a different way. This will be filtered in a slightly different way from the existing chart.
Also there are some minor bugs that the original programmer left behind. These are listed below, in addition to a more precise description of the tasks at hand
* list downloader
- remove generate excel button from principal form, add form for multiple-symbol download
- form has ability to add symbols to a list.
- list is saved as .cfg file and loaded as default set of symbols on startup of executable
- ability to save current symbols to the .cfg
- list of symbols is downloaded to one file, first entry needs to be name of symbol to distinguish between symbols-registers
* tick-based chart
- horizontally, below other chart, on same time frame
- one long list of buyer IDs/seller IDs instead of two.
- filter: if selected, include in tick-chart
- toggle button for all/none
* addition to current candlestick chart
- one long list of buyer IDs/seller IDs in addition to the two existing ones
- filter: if ID is selected, use trades where ID is either selling or buying to plot candlestick
* bugs from original project:
- time needs to be consistent, no trades means gap (no data means blank).
- all charts need to have fixed start: the selected time (e.g. 10:00:00-10:04:59, with 5-minutes next bar starts at 10:05, etc
- can we make ID lists ordered in more natural way: 13 should come before 103, not after

I think one thing that you will accept as well that is, before start in your project it is mandatory to see your current application because you want to modify the current application as well as you want to fix the bug into it. If you will be able to provide us your existed code, application, required dll and API from where you are collecting the data then it will be the actual manner to understand the requirement and it will help us to provide a best outcome.
