You will be given an existing blog post from www.employmentblawg.com. in html.
You will be given access to the blog's Google analytics account, which you will use to identify keywords currently bringing the most traffic.
You will perform keyword research to determine if there are additional or alternative keywords that would be better in attracting traffic and then rewrite the post, to be used as a replacement or entire new post (I will make that decision).
Specifically, you will use the Google keyword tool, set to "phrase," and two filters to identify key phrases with >= 1,000 and <=12,000 monthly global traffic.
You will then do a google search using quotation marks and note the number of results.
You will calculate the ratio of searches to results. You will narrow down the top ten with the best ratios to the best one to target by performing google searches intitle:"keyword: and inurl:"keyword."
You will compare the existing keywords on these measures.
You will deliver this data on an Excel spreadsheet with key phrases on the vertical axis.
If the new one looks likely to be more successful, you will rewrite the post to include it in title, headings h2, h3, and in text as appropriate. If there are no headings, write some. If the content is less than 800 words, write some additional paragraphs.
All content must either be original or quotations using quotation marks, ellipses, and/or blockquote, with attribution link, as in scholarly work. Nothing is to be copied and edited from copyrighted sources without attribution.
Deliverables are Excel showing keyword research and html file of modified post.
