Hi! Congratulations on finishing your novella! For some context, let's review what a manuscript editing process looks like.
Step 1: Manuscript Critique
I write a 2-5 page essay analysing the strengths and weaknesses of your manuscript elements - structure, plot, dialogue, characterisation and tone. This is entirely about your vision and mission. If my assessment is helpful, we go the next step.
Step 2: Developmental Edit
I suggest detailed strategies for improving every element of the manuscript. For example: suggestions for rearranging events, deleting whole characters/events, adding anecdotes etc. I will highlight strong writing, so you can repeat that style, and weak writing, so you can avoid it. I will highlight a few examples of line-level issues. At the end you will receive a 10-15 page strategy document to help you with rewrites.
Step 3: Line Editing
Post re-write, I provide a tactical sentence-by-sentence polishing of your manuscript where I cut out the fat, highlight inconsistencies, control the tone, and improve pacing. You'll have creative control, and will be able to accept/reject my changes on a case by case basis. After this stage, you may make your final revisions.
Step 4: Copyediting
I correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, and syntax and ensure consistency of elements across the manuscript
Step 5: Query Letter, Synopsis
I provide eye-grabbing pitches for you to submit so agents/publishers may consider your novel!
If all this sounds good, let's begin!
