Basically, what we are looking to produce is a training video that would walk a clinician through the steps of preparing a dose for administration and then a clinician for the actual administration process. Our initial thought was to just film a person doing all the steps with a voiceover and annotations, but an animated presentation might actually offer better clarity. There is some minor complexity in the process and it may be occurring at multiple sites, so it will be difficult for us to oversee directly.
There are several levels of complexity, depending on the preparation and method of administration, but for an example of the most simplistic one, the workflow goes something like this:
Example of “high” dose preparation:
Obtain patient dose preparation kit and place into preparation area
Obtain vial of vaccine from the freezer and place in preparation area to thaw
Draw the proper volume into the syringe
Cap the syringe
Place dose divider clip onto syringe
Place prepared dose into box
Notify clinician
___________
Example of dose administration as “drops”:
Obtain prepared dose
Prepare subject for dosing
Remove cap from syringe
Place subject head at the proper angle
Insert syringe into left nostril to appropriate depth
Slowly administer liquid until the plunger hits the dose divider stop
With subject remaining in proper position, remove syringe from left nostril
Carefully remove dose divider clip from syringe plunger and discard clip
Insert syringe into right nostril to appropriate depth
Slowly administer remaining liquid
Remove syringe from right nostril and discard
Have subject remain in dosing position for xx minutes
There would be a couple preparations that were more complex and there is an alternative administration procedure. In total, there would be four versions of this basic sequence to accommodate the variations in procedures.
My thought is that an animation could potentially be more instructive than an actual video but I’m not sure if this is something your group can do. It would be nice to have the animated elements look as realistic as possible with regard to dimensions but 2-D is fine (no photorealistic ray-traced stuff is required, for instance). This project may be a bit more complex than a lot of what I saw in your portfolio, so let’s make sure this is a good fit.
