I've been using MATLAB Image Processing toolbox since 2003 and OpenCV since 2008. This is a very interesting project and I've a very promising technique in mind. It's based on the fusion of optical flows computed using the two cameras input with the readings from different sensors. My proposal is to start with a pilot project as a proof of concept then developing a final product in which the accuracy is improved and the performance is optimized.

In such tasks many things related to carrier object itself, it dynamic characteristics, vibrations, jerks, distances to ground, etc. So, before thinking about time frame and price I want to know your task better.
