Data intercept from print job and storage of this data

We have the following problem which needs a solution. We need a piece of software which is going to be installed on hundreds of different machines across the country. The piece of software will be installed on Microsoft, Linux, Mac and Unix operating systems and will be connected to a printer (of which there will be many different brands). There will be a second piece of software already installed on the computer which will produce data that the software above needs access to. Now there is hundreds of brands of this type of software so it is not realistic to integrate the two. Therefore we assume the easiest way to gain this data is to intercept the print job sent from software number two (software two sends a print job each time it is actioned), convert the data and send it to software number one. We require someone to come up with a solution to the problem and then program software number one so that it receives the print data and can store it. As this is a complex project and one for which the solution to the problem will come from you, we need you to give us a solution and a quote to develop the solution. We will then discuss this in detail, come up with a detailed spec and finalise the quote.
