WANTED: Someone with Java and JMS experience to build a "Comet" chat application using LightStreamer.
REQUIREMENTS: This project is to engineer the communication of the system. On the client-side, users should be able to join and participate in a chat topic, which in terms of Lightstreamer architecture ([login to view URL]), simply means subscribing to an item in a virtual LS table. Users can then post messages and receive real-time feedback on their topic/item of interest. On the server-side, we need to be able to send messages to the topic of interest using a Perl interface to the JMS system, and we need to be able to add new topics automatically when the need arises.
Completion of this project entails:
- Demonstrating the chat application running on our Web servers;
- An example of sending messages to an ongoing chat topic (LS item) using Perl;
- Demonstrating that the application will automatically open a new chat topic in response to server traffic;
- Basic documentation and knowledge sharing of the application;
We're using a Linux Debian server, Apache Active MQ for the JMS server. The server setup is already complete.
