create cron Backup files to skip Directory

Hi We are hosting with rackspace cloud sites we want to backup [login to view URL] files we have a cron going for it that back up our files andoru DB. We have no issue with oru DB backup. The issue we having is to set up a cron that backup back up al files Execpet a SWF folder that has 24GB of data. We want to create a cron that exclude that Dir from the daily/weekly backup. Problem: we do not know how to exclude a directory which has like 24GB since cron backup can only last 15 min so we have to exclude this dir We have 2 tasks: 1. You change the cron to exclude that directory Here is what rackspace has give us: if your using tar to backup then --exclude PATTERN exclude files based upon PATTERN + tar czf [login to view URL] /folder/to/backup --exclude /folder/to/exclude * our IT manager does not know how to fix and make the cron looking for all files expect that dir So your job is to rewrite the code so this cron backup will exclude that dir so we can test and see all backup expect that dir.
