I am looking for someone to develop a Website for Grocery retailing. I will provide the mockups but before that I want to understand your ideas about it.
The technology used should be open source LAMP and heavy usage of AJAX. I can think of Ruby on Rails if a coder provides me specific insights as to why it is the ideal platform.
The major requirements here would be following
a) Coder should use MVVM (Model view view Model) or MVC (Model View Controller) patterns for separation of UI and datamodel.
b) Database schema is well defined and database is optimized.
c) Coder understands web security and SQL security.
d) Coder should have done similar work before and should provide references for the same.
e) Timelines are critical and the coder must honour them.

Thanks for your replies and postings on this. In order to get a brief idea about the project I would like you to visit TESCO's website and the grocery section in it. our requirements are similar to that. The backend design as you could infer from TESCO's UI should be pretty much same but we have our own front end. Some of the questions that I expect you to answer in the next stage of communication are: a) The website will have a search box. How can you implement a search which is similar to google instant search? b) The website would constitute a large number of images that needs to be displayed. How can you increase performance when the website loads at a low bandwidth page? C) One of the major goals of UI design is reduction in number of clicks required to perform an operation. Give me an example in your projects where you have been successfully able to reduce the user clicks. Thanks
