Convert images to video and upload to web site(repost)

I have a need for some software that will convert webcam images in a folder on my PC to a number of movie files. Once converted it should then upload the movies to a directory on my website. It should create mpegs. ## Deliverables I have a need for some software that will query a folder on a PC and retrieve images from it and create a video in mpg format from the images it finds. The images could be .jpg's, .png’s or .gif’s. The format of the image filenames is something like this: [login to view URL], [login to view URL], [login to view URL] and [login to view URL] etc. There could be a few hundred images in the directory or a few thousand. The software will be named Stillflick. Once running on the PC, Stillflick should convert the images to a daily video file. i.e. [login to view URL], [login to view URL], [login to view URL] etc. Once converted it should then upload the video to a directory on my web site. Once the video has been created the individual images should be deleted from the PC ready for new images the following day. It should only create video from images dated the day before today. If any images in the folder are dated any other date, they should be left in the folder and not included in the video. To explain: It is envisaged that a user will run the software at midnight. Assume a user runs the software starting Monday, if that happens the PC clock will tick over to Tuesday when the process of video creation begins. The software will then begin processing images for Monday (i.e. the day before) because it will be unable to process images for Tuesday (there may be none or just a few since Tuesday is not yet over). The images that are not processed today will then be processed tomorrow. Stillflick will use the creation date of the images to decide the order. It should check for correct operation before deleting any of the images. If there was a processing error, the error should be logged and the process halted giving the user chance to intervene if that option is set in the software configuration or it should continue to run if not set. At the same time, Stillflick should create a weekly video. It will do this by taking the monday, tuesday, wednesday videos etc and adding them together once there is a full week of videos to be converted. The resulting video will be called [login to view URL] etc. It should follow the calendar naming convention for week numbers, i.e. first week of January will be [login to view URL], second week of january would be [login to view URL], first week of February would be [login to view URL] etc. When a month has ended it should create a monthly video called [login to view URL] for January, [login to view URL] for February etc. At the end of 12 months it should create a yearly video called the current [login to view URL], e.g. yearly_2012.mpg. It should check for correct operation. If there was a processing error, the error should be logged and the process halted giving the user chance to intervene if that option is set in the software configuration or it should continue to run if not set. Information: The year is from 1st Jan to 31st Dec and the months will follow the normal calendar months, e.g. [login to view URL] will contain 31 days of movies, [login to view URL] will contain 30 days of movie etcs. There should be an option in the software that will allow for a user to select which videos should remain on the server after an upload has taken place, e.g. a user should be able to decide if weekly videos should remain after monthly videos have been created and they should be able to decide if monthly videos should remain after yearly videos have been created. Daily videos will be overwritten by the videos from the following week in any case so no selection is required. If the software runs and there was an error that prevented the video being created, it should allow the user to repeat the process that was missed. In addition to the above, Stillflick should also be able to create an instant video by accepting an input folder containing images and accepting a destination folder for the created video. The original images used for the video should be left intact after processing. The user should be able to select the sort method for images in this folder. The options should be sort by filename or sort by file date. If set to filename the images should be named [login to view URL], 2.jpg...[login to view URL], [login to view URL] etc. The user should be able to select the output quality as a percentage and give the resulting video a name. I believe that the size of video file for upload may become quite large as the year progresses. I would like suggestions as to how this could be overcome since it could easily lead to time out and other errors. Would it be possible to upload partial video to the server via FTP and assemble the entire file on the server for instance? Please be aware that I will require a solution to this potential problem. Software user configurable options: It should accept and store the source folder for images on the local PC. It should accept and store the destination folder for local output. It should accept and store FTP details (for uploading videos to a web server). It should accept and store a time for the process to run. I.e, a user will launch the software, it will then sit in the background and perform the requested functions at, say, midnight each day. There should also be a “run now?? menu option which will allow the software to run straight away. The run now option is to allow for errors in image processing where the error has been logged and the process halted. It should repeat the last failed process. It should contain a help file menu item that will point to a web site (I will provide the url and content, you only have to include a “help?? menu item in the software that points to that url). It should function on Windows Vista and Windows 7 both 32 and 64 bit. It should create and store an activity log that will tell the user what the software has done and when (date and time). It should create and store an error log that will tell the user where the software has failed and when (date and time). There should be a menu item to clear the error log. There should be a menu item to clear the activity log. The software should have an installer and uninstaller. The installer will contain a licensing agreement that I shall provide. The user must accept this agreement before being able to continue the install. This will allow me to offer the software to other users. The software should automatically connect to the help website when first run. It should have a checkbox to allow the user to turn off connecting to the website if required but otherwise should always connect when run. I leave the look and feel of the software to you but I envisage a smallish box with the following menu items: New - Settings ??" View - Help . Under New will be: Create instant video (create a video right now) Create project video (create a cumulative time lapse video on your website) - you may have to check here that the user has supplied the neccessary settings before allowing the process to start Under Settings will be: Source folder Destination folder Delete or keep Weekly video on server after upload? Delete or keep Monthly video on server after upload? Continue on error? Output quality - a percentage goes here with 100% being the highest quality FTP ??" clicking this will produce an input form that should collect this data: - FTP server - Port - Username - Password - Directory - 4 checkboxes for stay connected? Silent retry on connection error? Silent retry on authentication error? Use active FTP mode instead of passive? Background process time? - This will usually be midnight but can be anytime. Run now after error? Run Stillflick on windows startup? Under View will be: View error log? ??" on open there will be a further Clear data button. View activity log? ??" on open there will be a further Clear data button. Under Help will be: Contents ??" will open a url Visit web page ??" will open a url About ??" Version shown and this will also open a url I suspect that this description may change as the project progresses to take into account unforeseen circumstances and changes to design caused by development issues. I am fairly flexible in how the project goes forward and will expect you to make suitable suggestions about the development of the project where you feel that is appropriate. I also understand that, with a project of this nature, the initial bid amount does not always take into consideration the fluidity of a project that develops as new ideas and methods are introduced. Because of this I am willing to add suitable bonus payments at the end of the project if the delivered software is significantly different to the specification above. These bonus amounts are by negotiation with the chosen coder as the project gets coded. This is a reposted project. My first coder let me down after a period of time. The initial specification was different to that above and so the specification above should now be close to the final requirement. Ffmpeg was used by my first coder. There are some graphics available to create icons and background images for Stillflick.
