Hello I am new to freelancer however I have 10+ years of experience in modeling and simulation of FE models. I am trying to understand what you are trying to get out of the model. I have done analysis of crack model for various cases like Leak before burst, obtaining J integral and we use either 3D element or plain strain/stress element. Is it possible to provide more details why you want to have shell element instead of 3D element. I couldn't get this sentence – “I need to change the interface surface elements of 3D crack to a compression only” Are you trying to get the change in dynamic response due to presence of crack in thin shell? and the excitation will be provided by pezo element!
