I have hourly energy consumption data for 1500 sites in a country for an entire year. I want to show in an animation of 30 minutes (5 seconds per day) how the energy consumption varies per site. For example by changing the intensity of the color of each dot representing a site. Varying the size of the dots may be an option but I am afraid large dots will quickly crowd out smaller dots. I also want to indicate which season it is and if it is daylight or not (eg by having the background of the map alternate between light and dark)

Thanks and Cheers. --------------------UPDATE-------------------- My proposal is to have a webpage i.e. HTML5 page and do the animations with javascript/jquery. ( we can run the html page in full-screen view ) The data would have to be converted to i.e. 1 data file for positioning 1500 POI (id,name,X,Y format) and 1 data file / day for the avg consumption of that day. i.e. 365 data files. I mentioned 'avg consumption per day' since in 5 seconds we can only display 1 or 2 data points ( 24 points not possible in 5 seconds) else it would be data overload :-). we change the transparency of the DOT based on the consumption value
