Hi there, I currently have an idea for a web crawler based website. The idea is to crawl an email account (receives 1 email a day with multiple articles). Crawler will automatically take beginning of article and post article to website. If people then want to read the full article they will click on something like "Read more" and then click out to the original website that posted the article. It should then be possible to insert an affilliate link on those "read more" buttons so that depending on the affiliate model, I will be paid on click outs and / or when people actually purchase products or services from the original website. Now I don't know if this is technically possible, that's why I need your help. Summary: - Website: Latest news articles about a niche market - Content: Crawled from links in email, scraping the text directly and then posting it automatically to the website - Monetization: "Read more" on original website, insert affiliate tag on click out... paid on click-outs and / or website conversions. Hi, so the process will be: 1, You will provide me an email account? 2, The program will login the email account to scrape the link of the article and some texts of the article? 3, The program will generate a "read more" button and then post the incomplete article to the website, at the bottom, it's an read more button or link, right? 4, When a reader read the article and want to read more and click on "read more", another tab will be opened and navigate to an affiliate link, right? Hi M! Interesting project -- everything you talked about is possible but for the monetization part it all depends on the target websites since it of course has to come from their end since they would be the ones paying you (if I understood correctly?). As for the technical side I can definitely write software and help you host it (if needed). I would write the bot/crawler with Node.js. So it if you want the monetization part it all depends on the target websites, and if they have affiliate link programs and such. Feel free to message me any questions!
