Character Concept Art & Design

We require concept art to help guide the Visual Direction for an Exciting, African, Science Fiction, Action Adventure Animated Show currently in development called Concord. There is also a rough teaser trailer for the show but it should not be assumed that the designs in the trailer are necessarily the way the characters will look so feel free to explore your own interpretation of the characters. Here is the link to the rough teaser trailer: [login to view URL] The designs should be distinctive and appealing to an audience of boys ages 6 to 12. The show should be like an animated comic. The characters’ faces should be attractive and easy to read. We like the design sensibility of iconic 1980s shows like He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, M.A.S.K., Thundercats, Silverhawks and Saber Rider and also contemporary shows like Ultimate Spiderman, Star Wars the Clone Wars, Ben-10, Fantastic Four World’s Greatest Heroes, The Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes and Justice League. N.B: Africa has people of indigenous and foreign descent and a variety of combinations. The show will try and celebrate this fact in the diversity of its characters. Artist Requirements: Artists must have a digital portfolio of relevant character design work to be considered for this job. The portfolio should either be accessible in some form of online gallery or will need to be sent via Email, as a pdf document, for consideration. The artist will also be expected to write a brief explanation of why they believe they are a good fit for this job. Deliverables: 16 - Characters 1 – Poster Design Characters: There are 16 characters to be conceptualized. (The list of characters and their brief profiles will be provided as a pdf document to the artist who is awarded the job.) At least 2 (two) distinctly draft designs per character will be required before one of the drafts is selected for final refinement. For each of the characters at least one image of just the face and one full body (head to toe) will be required. These should be compelling, exciting images which would be used to inspire the developers and also help sell the show to prospective buyers. For 10 of the characters, an image of the character in normal (futuristic) every day clothes and in suited up action mode will be required. Poster: The poster should feature the main good guys in an exciting dynamic situation preferably engaged in physical conflict with the bad guys. At least 3 distinctly different draft designs will be required from which one draft will be selected for final refinement. Show Synopsis: Concord, which means peace and harmony, is a Science Fiction - Action Adventure show about a highly specialized team whose purpose is to protect humanity from threats requiring an extraordinary tactical response. Their current mission is to stop Apocalypse which is an evil organization bent on crime and oppression. Episodes will be about CONCORD’s adventures in thwarting Apocalypse’s numerous diabolical schemes. Whether it be breaking human trafficking rings, dismantling extortion networks, toppling corruption syndicates or even intercepting terrorist attacks, CONCORD will rise to the challenge, standing for good and defending humanity. Disclosures: This show is an Afro-centric/African show with overt Christian faith based elements. The commissioner of this work is RECON-Digital Limited. This job shall be understood to be a WORK FOR HIRE and upon completion and payment, all designs submitted and all rights in and to those designs shall become the property of the commissioner of the work. However, the artist shall, at the discretion of the commissioner of the work, receive an appropriate credit in both on screen and applicable print publications.
