I'm looking for someone to design and build an alphabet playback device. Size would be about that of an A4 page, not too thick - doesn't need to be hi-tech as it's going to the Solomon Islands as an aide to teach English. It needs to be lightweight and have low power consumption - maybe even a solar strip from a calculator could be used perhaps so we don't need batteries? I would prefer to be able to record and re-record the sounds of the alphabet until I'm happy with the sound. I'd need at least 26 buttons (for 26 letters of the alphabet) - probably aim for 30 buttons and therefore 30 sounds to be played back as required.

I believe I may be able to help you with your requirement as I have only recently designed an audio player product to provide warning messages to train drivers. The deliverables would be in two phases as follows:- Phase 1 1. Circuit diagram as a pdf document 2. Fully costed items list with distributors part numbers as an excel spread sheet. 3. Firmware C code fully documented. 4. One fully working prototype built from an of the shelf nicro controller development board. For this task I would require AUD1500 including all parts and delivery. This will be supplied in an off the shelf enclosure. The sound files will be contained in EEPROM downloaded from wave files created by yourself. Phase 2 after your approval of the prototype 1. Updated circuit diagram with all mods and enhancements 2. Update parts list 3. PCB layout as a pdf for your approval 4. PCB Gerbers 5. Small quantity of production boards For this task I would require AUD550 for my time only, excluding parts, assembly and delivery. Best Regards Dave Lelievre

Hi! I can do it thin as 1mm and thick at touch buttons at 3-4mm at a portion where will be the battery, controller, memmory chip and speaker. Thinner than 3 mm will be low quality sound there(around 3mm is the proper thick of speaker). In 3mm there is posible to put in an Li-ion battery too.

From your post i understand that you want alphabet playback device of A4 size, it should solar powered, should have 26 buttons for each alphabet and four optional buttons. I have two idea of implementing your project. 1:- To design a A4 size led display board below which 26 buttons are present and pressing each button will display an alphabet with the sound of the alphabet. 2:- To design an A4 size board consisting of plastic alphabets pasted on it and below which a button will be present by pressing the button the recorded sound will be played as well the alphabet will also glow. If you want only a box to be designed which will play the recorded alphabet sound. it can also be done. For solar , calculator solar panel will not be able to power much. but a solar panel of half the A4 size will be able to charge batteries which will run the device for days. The box will also have re-recording features so that you will be able to record the sound until you are satisfied. If interested in my ideas them message me.
