Hi ive built this exact system, However measuring the Wifi signal strength from a mobile phone and unlocking the door using an electromagnetic solenoid. The device used a XLP pic micro and included a boostconverter to generate 24VDC to operate the lock solenoid from the batteries. What my suggestion would be: - Use Estimote iBeacon and iOS enable phone to get the desired functionality - Battery will last more than 36 months (transmitting interval 920ms) - You can control the access area as iBeacon as range based action - I have a prototype ready with iBeacon which performs a action based on its distance from the user phone The other alternative is to use ESP8266 as a wifi module to perform the same task as iBeacon. Pros: - Cheapest solution to install - Reliable - Control action can be anything from switch on/off motor/led or anything of your choice Cons: - At present I can only make it work on Android - Needs DC supply as the system works on WIFI Lets chat before you accept my bid or you have something in mind to discuss.
