I want to use audio signals to send data from one Arduino unit to another. The transmitting unit will have many other functions to perform on top of encoding and generating the audio signal. The audio signal will be produced by a piezo speaker. The receiving unit will have the sole function of decoding the signal and reproducing the data (e.g. printing to serial monitor), so I am happy to use the microcontroller to do the work, as opposed to external tone decoders. This will also allow me to re-program the frequencies and experiment with different frequency ranges without having to modify hardware. I am using a condenser microphone operating on 2-9V, so want to power this from 3.3V/5V/Vin. The typical data will be 16-32 bytes in length. I would like the data to include a pre-amble so that the receiver knows where the data is coming from (e.g. a device UUID). Other methods to increase the reliability/robustness of the data transfer (e.g. checksums etc) are desirable also. Project deliverables are: - Completed (and commented) code for the transmitter and receiver units, along with required libraries - Electrical schematic for the circuits (not Fritzing)
