Scenario You are a senior human resource project officer of the FFA (Football Federation Australia). You have been asked to review and report on the performance of a small team of eight people responsible for managing and implementing policy and procedures(do not write about policy and procedures) on violence against women. The team has been under a lot of pressure to deliver a workable policy that will satisfy the government and ultimately the public. There is a lot of conflict within the team - there are serious disagreements over the goals amongst team members. As a result of violence against women being a major issue in other sporting codes, there is mounting pressure for the team to produce a policy and accompanying procedures.(write about teams and organisation skills) should be at least 3-4 criteria. The team was given three months to research and review existing and previous policies and procedures to provide a workable policy for the government. One month has passed. The way the team is operating means they will not meet their deadline. Team members have not been completing work on time; people are not returning phone calls or responding to requests for information. There have been accusations that some team members are hoarding information and not communicating with team members. Planning the project was meant to involve everyone in the team but two members of the team didn't make the initial planning meeting and consequently felt excluded from the decisions that were made at that meeting. Those who missed the meeting claim they do not know what their role is or what the goals of the project are. Team meetings are negative and sometimes become shouting matches among members. There appears to be personality conflict within the team. Team members do not always attend meetings or report on the status of the work that they are undertaking. They say they are too busy for the meetings which they claim do not produce any outcomes or move the project forward. They claim that they can use the time better at their desk doing work, which means they can minimise the amount of work they take home to do. Some team members have been late completing tasks. The team leader never gives positive feedback or advice that can move the project forward. The team leader appears to have favourites, who he has worked with previously. The team leader turns up late to work, cancels meetings at the last moment and relies on his favourites to cover for him. The team leader does not appear to want to build a relationship with other team members. Those 'favourites' are getting all the 'good' jobs that involve travel and meeting people with status and power. It is very clear that cliques have formed with agendas that are not in the best interests of the team. The CEO meets with the team leader weekly to monitor the progress of the team. The CEO is concerned about the team not delivering as per their project plan. The CEO is taking a personal interest in this project because of its high profile. The CEO and team leader are meeting in two week's time to discuss the progress of the project. Task You are to prepare an essay of 800-1200 words to present the results of your investigation into the team project. The essay must include: • analysis of reasons why the team is not performing as expected by the CEO • identification of criteria against which to evaluate team performance • evaluation of the performance of the team against the above criteria • justified recommendations to solve the problems
