This is a cookie demonstration of how a user is tracked across an ad network. A user profile is created by giving the user a persistant cookie associated with a banner shown on the page.
The user then starts the demonstration by visiting 3 different web sites (frames will be used so the user can follow the demonstration and visit the 3 web sites from a single frameset). each of the three web sites will display the demonstration banner and detect the user's cookie. The user profile is updated with the date/time/user agent and referrer.
The user then enters their e-mail address and an e-mail is sent that includes a demonstration banner that is retrieved from the web server. When the user opens the e-mail and the banner is retrieved the cookie is read and the user profile is updated with the date/time/user agent and referrer.
The user would then be able to go back to the original site and view their profile.
The demonstration should include error checking if the user does not accept cookies. there should also be a limit on the number of e-mails sent to any one address to prevent abuse.
I need advice as to how to maintain the profiles whether it be a database or some other method. I expect to maintain the profiles for several months if users return.
## Deliverables
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):
a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.
b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
