PROJECT : Decoder for light flashes to drive an lcd sign. We already have an Android app to flash clock and data to the decoder.
MILESTONES :
(1) Identify 2 or 3 commodity mcu parts such as 8051 or PIC16. Identify 2 or 3 lcd driver chips, ½ or 1/3 for 7 segment or dot matrix characters Prepare B.O.M. Prepare schematic.
(2) Make prototype board.
(3) Write firmware.
(4) Test.
(5) Build 5 additional boards and install firmware.
There is lots of code for decoders on the internet to cut and paste. See examples below.
The lcd sign is a 32 character, 7segment character, ½ or 1/3 multiplexed with a Ton 90% of 4.0 Volts.
