We have documentation on how to manage the following. Most is all solid and doesn\'t need much, but it would be good if you have the skills to deal with these as needed.
Server Administration:
• Installing servers - all good now unless we need to add a new server
• Monitoring the 4 Linux servers and writing Nagios service definitions for processes on each machine (monitoring notifications). All working good and steady. (Rackspace covers their servers, but not Nagios server definitions)
• Security fixes / updates with the latest exploits (linux operating system security). All OK for now. (Rackspace covers this)
• Keeping core server stack software up to date, ie Tomcat, SVN, SQL and more. All OK for now.
• Maintaining the entire Email server (on btv1 server)
• Adding / removing / modifying user accounts as needed (like adding employee to email, adding contractor to JIRA, Trac, SVN access, use home director for files. As needed.
• Keeping Rackspace / Network Solutions in check with our needs, but all solid with what we need. All OK for now.
Networking:
• Implementation of firewall hardware - ASA 5505, Airports (wifi at office), backup hard drive Airport
• Maintaining security for anti-hacking purposes. If we get attacked from a bot trying to get in, we can see what is happening with a Nagios check that shows pings. If the ping is too long, it sends Chris an email, then take a look and do something like set up a black hole defense (telling traffic to go to null of an IP). As needed. If we get attacked Rackspace can help with assistance, but actively maintained by Rackspace.
Scripting / Software Development:
• Write / modify server scripts - These include our build scripts that pull code from different locations from trunk, branches, or tags (another pointer), and compiles the deployment (like version 5.0.1a). They don’t need too much maintenance, but will need to change when we get Git Bitbucket working.
• Manage backup system - can be modified if need be. All OK for now.
• File management / tomcat changes scripts to keep up to date with new releases. Production generates large log files, so we have an archiving system on dfw1 (on the 1T drive). All OK for now.
I'm changing this project to say I'm open to bids up to $90 per hour.
