We are a small online retailer that only started trading in August 2017. We sell hamper style boxes of party accessories. We built our own website using six and it was great because we were able to launch quickly and it did what we needed it to do. However we've quickly found that we're now very restricted in its capabilities. This is our website [login to view URL]
You'll notice that it has headings across the top for different types of occasion, and then within each category there's various hampers and individual items to buy. In total there are 12 different hampers on the website and each one has a set list of contents for a fixed price. Some you can stipulate how many people to buy for (hen party) and others are for a set number of people. This is because we've found that a hen party planner is often budgeting per person so this makes it easier for them.
Since launching the feedback is that this is too restrictive and people often don't understand the price or want a different package. So now what we'd like instead is the heading's across the top to change so that one is labelled 'Hampers' and these 12 pre-selected packages are in there, as well as a new heading labelled 'Build your Own' where they'll find the same 12 varieties of hampers, but when they click on one it'll display the standard contents as thumbnail images (three across max) with a check box next to them and a +/- number so that they can check the items they want included, and enter how many of each item. There should be a basket summary (perhaps on the right hand side of the screen) that totals up the cost of their selections as they make them.
The only website I've found that does something similar is [login to view URL] I like how you can see exactly what you're spending and build your hamper on the screen. You then add it to the checkout as one item (not as individual items) and can carry on shopping for anything else you might want to add on.
We'd still want the about us and contact us headings, plus another one that maybe is just called 'Shop' where all other products, that are sold outside of the hampers, are listed such as balloons, pinatas etc.
I think the whole website needs rebuilding on a different platform that allows this functionality, but I don't have the knowledge or know how! We're on quite a strict deadline as we have a 3 day marketing event at the NEC on 22nd February and really need the new format to be available by [login to view URL], once it's built we'll need to be able to update it or add ranges ourselves.
