Each student must select a scholarly journal article on any topic that relates to the subject matter of the textbook from any of the following search engines (you can access the search engines from the UCO library website. All selected articles must be from one of the three search engines.)
- Sage Publications.
- Project Muse.
- Pro-Quest search.
- When selecting a journal article from one of the above three search engines make sure the article is about 10-25 pages long. Read the article carefully and start reviewing it
- Based on your understanding of the scholarly journal article, each student must write a well-organized 4-6-page review of the article. Make sure to document the article, source, page numbers, etc. in the review. (link if available)
- Your review must consist of two main parts:
- a balanced summary of the article’s main themes, ideas, etc
- an assessment of the article, including evaluation, judgment, opinion, etc.
- To help you formulate an analytical assessment of the journal article. Consider addressing the following main issues:
- the author’s main viewpoint/s and purpose about the subject matter.
- the evidence used by the author to substantiate his/her points in the text.
- the degree of success/failure of the author’s approach to the subject.
- your opinion/judgment regarding the subject matter supported by evidence and logic
- The written review must be double-spaced
- If there is a link to the article, then cite it at the end of the review
- I would like your review to be submitted as a word document (not PDF). Make sure to do so or points will be deducted
- Any sign of plagiarism or cheating will result in an F grade in the course (not just the assignment).
