After upgrade to Magento 1.8 . product images are no loger displayed correctly

The product image the product page tries to show the full size image (500*375 px) instead of the default 265*265 px.
If you browse the product page of the old 141 install and inspect the picture with chrome browser, you see:
/[url removed, login to view]" alt="HTC desire S BA S530" title="HTC desire S BA S530" style="width: 265px; left: 0px; top: 33px;">
In the 181 install, style="width: 265px; left: 0px; top: 33px is no longer used so the picture does not get resized.
Please solve the problem by either telling me how to fix it or by accessing my computer and fix it.
