Create a draft of our homepage

In terms of style we are looking for something that looks current. Flat design with a clean / minimalist website where white is the background colour and a lot of white space is used. An example of the clean style we are after can be found here; [url removed, login to view]

Part of the challenge when it comes to us is that we do not have a lot big / interesting image library for a designer to utilize. So the design cannot rely on good looking photos from us

About the current menu structure; There are two things that we like about the menu structure on our current website; First of it shows what products we sell, straight away. A first time visitor can quickly see the images of what type of metal products we sell. The second thing we like about the menu is, as mentioned; It makes it easy to navigate into a certain material directly from the front page.

Content

We think it is important for a visitor to be introduced with our company as quickly as possible. We currently market ourselves as “The material solutions provider for high performance alloys”

Furthermore a presentation of what kind of products we deal should be communicated quickly and clearly. This presentation is currently functioning well on the old website as the visitor can see a picture of the different products straight away.

We would like to communicate the fact that we are international / global supplier. How this is communicated, however, we do not have any clear opinion on, and we would like to discuss the matter with you.

Content change from old website.

In terms of content we are looking to re-brand a bit. On our current website shows an oil rig on the front banner. The reason is of course that we have 90% of our business towards oil. That being said, these are though times in the oil industry and we are trying to diversify our customer base a bit. We would therefore like to tone down the oil focus. In other words, we do not need a rig on the front page.

A news section is mandatory, but we do not want to show more than 1 news story. We have trouble filling in new stories, and having old stories, dating back over a year, on the front page is not good form. So, maybe it is best to skip the dating on news stories?
