We are a small group of proprietary foreign currency (FX) traders planning to lease a single 42U rack in the Equinix NY2 Data Center in Secaucus, New Jersey. Components of our network will include:
- Primary and redundant firewall appliances
- Primary and redundant switch appliances
- 3U enclosure with 8-node blade servers
- Primary and redundant cross connects for Internet / IP Transport
- Three to Five other cross connects
Job requirements:
- design the proper setup of the network, including illustrated Physical Network Diagram and Layer2/Layer3 Network Diagrams
- design should focus on low latency and high availability utilizing primary and redundant appliances
- create a list of all required parts and materials for the initial installation, including cabling, SFPs, PDUs, etc
- After the equipment is "racked and stacked" in the data center, manage the initial setup of all layer2 and layer3 devices, including routing, peering, firewall, whitelisting, LAN setup, and access control (ACL)
- Liaise with third parties as our network engineer if required (on conference calls, for example as needed only)
- Provide other consulting and advice related to this project as required

I have 9 years experience as a Network engineer. I designed and setup the network for CIAN Networks in Hong Kong, they are also inside an Equinix datacenter. I fully understand what you need. Which cross connects shall your company use for Internet? Cogent, HE, Zayo? I can design and setup the entire system with whatever network devices you require. I will provide the design and if you equally need me on site I can also be there physically. Have you already decided on which devices you are going to use?
