First, here is why I think I would be very good for this job. 1 - I am passionate about both maths and programming, and as an engineer I have tackled many problems in both areas. 2 - My final thesis was on process simulation in octave, so I really know how to vectorialize everything so the programs run blazingly fast. 3 - I have completed Sandford's online course on Machine Learning with a 100% mark, in Coursera. It included multivariate linear regression, and it was in octave/matlab (I did it in octave). So I know how to do the task at hand. I also have a good mathematical understanding of classification problems. 4 - I have also done courses on financial engineering (also in Coursera), and I'm guessing this is for a porfolio optimization. The problem at hand is quite straightforward, but, if I'm correct, knowing your underlying objectives will help me do a better job. My plan is to first, adapt the programs I already have to work with your data from the intrenet. Then, work out the frontend. I can develop it for either command line use (easy way) or with html interface (if you have an available server, this will take more time). Once I have everything working, I'll make sure every line of code is appropiatelly commented. I am new here and my objective is to build up a good reputation. I know it's risky to hire someone new like me, but I'd be glad to answer all your questions and close the information gap.
