Phi Theta Kappa - Executive Director Candidate Speech

I joined Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) and I am looking for some help with my Executive Director Candidate speech. Basically I need a 3-5 minute speech about How I am a Leader, and what I can bring PTK. Obviously my military experience shines through with leadership, fellowship and service, and my grades and love of knowledge go with scholarship. PTK Mission Statement - “The mission of Phi Theta Kappa is to recognize academic achievement of college students and to provide opportunities for them to grow as scholars and leaders.” The four hallmarks of PTK is scholarship, leadership, fellowship, and service. Currently, I have a 3.77 GPA, and I am taking 7 classes (19 credits) this semester, and I have already regisered for 16 credits in the summer. I spent quite a few years as a combat medic for the US Marine Corps. I am an honorably discharged, disabled veteran and look forward to being accepted into the Physician Assistant program. OVERVIEW of Executive Director (just so you know what the duties entail) Executive Director shall: Direct the chapter in the use of parliamentary procedure for meetings. Assist the president in the development of the Chapter agenda and objectives for the term Maintain and uphold constitutional order and guidelines. She/he must ensure all process follow constitutional ways and he must call all irregularities to the attention of the board. Serve as witness to the president’s approval or veto of any bill. He/she shall sign all bills the president approves. Contact any Officer that is not in attendance at three consecutive meetings per academic semester and give a written warning stating that further absences may result in impeachment as per Article III. Section III. of the chapters bylaws. Oversee all leadership activities. Oversee all Honors Projects & Honors Satellite Seminars. Lead the efforts to revise the constitution, proposing changes and amendments to the board in order to ensure that the constitution reflects the identity and/or necessities of the chapter. Coordinate the preparation of the Leadership entry awards Build partnership with Phi Theta Kappa officers from other chapters at local and state level Prepare and oversee all electoral processes (spring elections and special elections) within the chapter. Be the first in line of succession may the president be unable to fulfill his or her capacities. Perform as acting-vice-president for ceremonial purposes. Assist the President. Take and uphold the oath of office.
