The project shall have two modules: one module that is installed in the patient which we will call the
Patient’s Device (PD), while the other module is used by the medical practitioner or doctor which we will
call the Doctor’s Device (DD).
The PD is composed of a x number of ECG sensors connected in an Arduino module. The purpose of the
Arduino module is to get all the ECG data from the sensors and sent it to the DD via the Internet.
The DD is an LCD module where the doctor is able to see the waveforms of the ECG signals taken from
the patient. Since the ECG signals have P, Q, R, S, T, U parameters, the doctor must be able to have the
ability to get these values and display in the LCD.
Special attention should be given the signal conditioning circuit of each ECG sensor. The signal
conditioning circuit should be a module that is able to calibrate itself based on the data that is received
by the ECG sensor. The calibration is done online while ECG measurements are done. Initially, it
assumed that the signal conditioning circuit is composed of a 1st
- or 2nd
-order filter which is best
designed from the ECG sensor. Therefore, research needs to be done by the freelancer. An algorithm
should also be designed by the freelancer for auto-tuning. Tuning is done by changing the parameters of
the filter. The filter can either be analog or digital.
To ensure that the signal received in DD is the same as the signal sent by PD, there should be a feedback
mechanism from the DD to PD and algorithm should be made to compare these signals. If the signals
have large discrepancy, then the Doctor should be informed that there is signal integrity issues.
