We are building a web app that delivers mentions alerts to users, based on keywords and tags entered by that user. E.g. If a user enters keyword "car," whenever publishers (like [login to view URL]) write about the tag "car", we send the alert to the user. Example of sites that do this is Google Alert and Mention.com. The user will add the publisher source he wants to get the alerts from. We need a developer to build a web scraper that scrapes the rss of the sources e.g CNN rss entered by the user, then reads through the contents to locate the tag(s) e.g "car" entered in by the user. Once tag is located in a story, we send the story to the user on our app. Secondly, we have a second feature where users are allowed to FOLLOW news publishers. They can do this by either inputting the URL of a publisher not already existing on our platform e.g. [login to view URL] or, by clicking FOLLOW for publishers already existing in our database. On either case, we fetch the RSS of the publisher and deliver fresh stories to the user periodically. For this feature, no need to read through the story. We just send the full story to the user.
Hi,
I am very much interested in your project. I have gone through it, and I have one confusion regarding the follow section. Specially when they will do it by manually entering url. I would like to request you please visit my profile once, and if you are interested initiate a discussion, so that we can proceed to the next level.
Thanks,
Rajib
Hi. I will develop your software using parsing algorithms that will fetch custom tag data from RSS publishers using Python. I hope to hear soon from you concerning the project. Regards.
