The project portfolio consists of:
A formal written report and recommendations of a total of (3,000 words) on the project “Employee Reward and Recognition”, which must address each of the four elements outlined below in an integrated fashion, and specifically related to The Hills Shire Council (value 30 per cent). A minimum of 6-10 academic references are to be drawn on across the four areas required in the report.
Appendices may also include any other relevant documentation, such as company background material, supporting policy/plan/budget and will not count towards the word limit.
In considering the possible options for The Hills Shire Council and making its recommendations, each group is required to consider each of the four key elements :
The written portfolio must, in addressing Employee Reward and Recognition , include the following elements:
WRITTEN PORTFOLIO REQUIREMENTS
Context This involves an analysis of the organisational context. This includes the business environment, the nature and structure of the client organisation and its market, the nature and skills of its employees, the technology and other relevant factors impacting on the development and implementation of HR and IR. It also includes an analysis of the broad strategic business and employment relations directions of the Hills Shire Council. This is to be considered in the context of your role as a consultant to The Hills Shire Council.
Content A Recognition OR Reward program/policy will need to be developed. This involves a discussion of the development of, and rationale for, the proposed content of the project Employee Reward and Recognition policy or program developed, discussed in relation to the context, above and the client’s specific requirements.
Implementation This involves an analysis of how to implement the proposed initiative, program or policy in the client organisation, and needs to address the implementation issues discussed in Weeks 1-5, in the specific context of The Hills Shire Council and the project Employee Rewards and Recognition.
Evaluation This involves an analysis of how it is proposed to evaluate the extent of the effectiveness of the proposed initiative, program or policy should it be implemented by The Hills Shire Council.
Supporting documentation must also be included as appendices.
The Hills Shire Council would like students to research this topic and provide advice/ recommendations based on the format outlined above.
Bear in mind these factors:
• Consider the challenges of introducing a performance related pay scheme during a time of significant workplace change; and
• Develop a specific model for the HR team to implement and communicate with frontline managers to encourage and support them to establish reward and recognition practices within their teams. (Content , Implementation and Evaluation should make up at least 70% of the report)
