I need a quick fix to a small issue. I have a PHP program with a CMS that allows visitors to create an account and enter a biography. The signup form requires the user's real name so that the website admin can track users. The users can edit their biographies from a user control panel in the CMS. However, a small number of users will want their biography to appear in the listings under a pseudonym (a name other than their real name).
Your job is to create a quick feature that allows users to define a false name for public display. You will create a new database field to hold the pseudonym. Then edit two files. 1. Edit the "Update Biography" page users enter their information into. On this page you will include a checkbox labeled "Publicly display pseudonym." And then enter a form field for the user to define the pseudonym. The data will be saved to the database field you setup. 2. Edit the public display page (which displays the bios), and add the code that replaces the public name with the pseudonym if the pseudonym database field is not null and the user has checked the box to use the false name.
That's it. Once completed, you will supply instructions which will instruct us how to edit other websites that use the same coding.
The budget is $30 for this small fix. The right programmer ought to be able to complete this project in 1 hour.
