Title explains it. I have a website, which already authenticates users. I need a simple chatroom built that uses the current user's session (stored $_SESSION['XXX'] = username) This is not a $30 project, I am just seeing if it's possible. We can negotiate price later.

Hi; This is indeed possible - I'm a PHP expert, and dealt with Jquery a lot. (for 4-5 years). There are many methods to implement it - ranging from node.js server to the simplest of all, Jquery with AJAX. I'd like to inform you that this is not a though job. Security is a concern here, as AJAX requests must be carefully parsed for injecting malicious code. This is not a "example price"; this is a price for a working code. Please feel free to ask questions.

Definitely possible, but a slightly unusual way to build a chat room. Honestly not sure how long it'll take, but it shouldnt be too awful (it depends how much serverside support you have, to some extent, though we could just do everyhing comicaly with POST and hope for the best) charge? (as you say, finalising prices later seems sensible for something slightly unknown like this)

Why you are thinking is not possible? Only it will be neccesary to use the "stored $_SESSION['XXX']" as "nickname"!!!! Is your web using some "special or /rare" PHP framework? Because then I dont understand it!!!. I propose you "a chat room using native PHP and jQuery" coding and integration. So simple for integration that it will be JS temporization (timer) based. regards
